Homemade Henna

The 'holy grail' of henna tattooing is to get a henna paste that stains really well. When I first started out, I searched high and low for a good henna paste - and for someone who could be 'on call' for a good quality paste as and when I needed it.

H
owever, this became increasingly challenging, as the quality of the paste varied from week to week, as did the consistency and scent. There is also the danger of buying a paste containing unnatural ingredients, which could be harmful to your skin. To solve these problems, I decided to make my own henna paste!

Understandably, I was unable to get someone willing to share their recipe with me, and so research into the art commenced.

After weeks of trial and error, I came up with the best henna paste recipe ever. I conducted in-depth research into mehndi and spoke to experts in the art. The recipe has now been perfected and lasts for about 2 weeks on the skin without fading, depending on whether or not you exfoliate on the areas that have been painted. All the ingredients are natural and won't harm the skin. I do not include skin dyes or ink.
